SCOTT WEILAND: Video Of 'The Tonight Show With Jay Leno' Performance Available

December 20, 2006

VELVET REVOLVER fan site Velvet-Revolver.com has uploaded a video clip of singer Scott Weiland's appearance on Monday's (December 18) edition of "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno". Weiland performed a "jazzy" version of the holiday standard "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" with a band consisting of Douglas Grean on guitar, Frank Reina on drums and musicians on grand piano, stand-up bass, horn, cello and violins. Download the video at this location (.AVI, 24 MB). The singer is also planning to release a studio version of the tune, which he has recently been recording.

Weiland recently spoke to MTV regarding VELVET REVOLVER's second album, "Libertad", which is now being recorded after months of false starts. The vocalist said that he hasn't been "this excited about a rock record since 1993," calling "Libertad" "a really inspired rock and roll album."

The band is recording the album with producer Brendan O'Brien, who's worked with AUDIOSLAVE, PEARL JAM and Weiland's former group, STONE TEMPLE PILOTS. An initial stint with producer Rick Rubin did not work out for reasons still left unexplained.

VELVET REVOLVER plans to release "Libertad" next spring. Weiland is also working on his second solo album, which he hopes will surface in the fall of 2007 on his own label, Softdrive Records.
